Green Village Empowerment Foundation was registered in 2007 and has operated in Galole Constituency in Tana River County as a Community Based Organization (CBO). GVEF’s main objective is found in the significance of the word green and in the second word Village. In its significance the word green would signify balance, sustainable, prosperous, healthy, growth, progress etc. while Village would mean the basic unit of a society. Green villages therefore seeks to promote sustainability through creating social, economic and environmental balance and equilibrium within the basic unit of society. Green Village as designed and within which the objectives were drawn from pursues an approach that seeks to bring an equilibrium between society and nature in a holistic way thus promoting sustainable development at the village unit.
