About us

Transforming lives one village at a time.

Green Village Empowerment Foundation (GVEF) was founded in Kenya in 2007 with a focus of implementing practical hands-on community driven projects aimed at greening the nation. It is articulated through the GVEF Strategic plan where communities undertake a series of activities that result to sustainable environmental conservation and natural resource management, assurance of food security, policy dialogue and advocacy and social integration through peace building, ethical and moral probity.

GVEF is executively run by a distinguished Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of diverse professionals based around the world. GVEF is honoured to have such experienced, talented, and passionate professionals as part of the team, dedicating themselves to ensure GVEF maximizes its potential and successfully achieves its mission.

Our Goals

Campaigns

  • To be led by 12 years olds in the village.
  • It runs for a two-year program.
  • He/she leads village clean ups every Friday.
  • He/she is nominated by the village
  • He/she is part of the National Greta Campaign Kenya.
  • He/she fulfills responsibilities given by the National Greta Campaign.
  • He/she gets to network with other Greta across the country.
  • He/she attends the annual Greta Conference in Kenya.
  • He/she gets full scholarship to finish primary school.
  • Led by anyone 15 years and above (15-19years junior category, 20-24years senior category, 25-34years elite category, 35years to 60 sophisticated category).
  • They identify challenges within the village and their possible solutions.
  • He/she provides linkages between the village and key stakeholders eg ward administrator, county gov.
  • He/she mobilizes the community/village to discuss the issue that has been identified and discusses it with the community.
  • He/she initiatives interventions to address the issue eg. Tree planting.
  • Targets philanthropic entities, individuals, organizations.
  • GVEF identifies and embraces and endorses a village as a green village.
  • GVEF documents the challenges experienced by the village.
  • GVEF puts up the village for adoption on its website highlighting the challenges identifies.
  • A philanthropist who decides to adopt that village reaches out to GVEF and signs an agreement with GVEF on behalf of the village he/she/it wishes to adopt.
  • The donation goes to GVEF kitty and the donor is able to trace the donation to the exact GPS location from the point of payment to point of implementation.
  • GVEF maps out villages across the country/continent/globe.
  • Villages can be nominated to GVEF for extreme intervention- can be forwarded by Green Villages Campaign team.
  • GVEF maps out cross-cutting issues across a village through an inter-village scoping exercise/expedition.
  • GVEF develops bankable proposals to address these issues and proceeds to mobilize resources.
  • GVEF identifies key relevant stakeholders necessary for implementation such as Governments, CSOs, Private Sector, international community.
  • GVEF works with the community/villages and the stakeholders to implement these initiatives.
  • Identification of village economic hotspots.
  • Identification of initiatives to tap into them.
  • Identification of private sector to partner with the village.
  • Upgrading of village markets.
  • Setting up of villages SMEs – solar kiosks.
